Direct primary care is an emerging model for delivering healthcare to patients who pay a membership fee for unlimited access to a provider who sees fewer patients per day compared to traditional primary care practices.
In this model, patients receive unlimited, unhurried visits with no hidden fees, whether for an annual physical or acute sick visit. Same or next-day appointments and video calls are available, along with phone, texting, or email support for their health care needs.
Further, direct primary care providers can better coordinate and manage patient care outside their practice including referrals to specialists, advanced imaging, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospital systems.
